Jonathan is a risk-taker. Can this make him a War Hero?
Jonathan is defintely a risk-taker. Can this make him a War Hero? In my opinion i think it can. "'Do it' he told himself 'go and fight.'" This to me already make him a war hero because he's taking part in war. "He jumped up 'dont shoot me!' he cried." Jumping up infront of 3 soldiers definetly makes him a risk taker. This occured right after the war ended. Johnathan went to war and faught for his country which makes him a hero. He was able to stand up to his enimies and fight making him a risk taking war hero.

I was interested when Jonathan made his risk by telling them where he was, ultimately he was made fun of for being a young fool in a war. Even though that had occurred Jonathan was making his risk by trying to pay attention secretly to what the Dutch speaking soldiers were saying. For example, in pg. 66 it said " Carefully, furtively, he studied their faces, trying to guess their thought and moods. " Another thing he was doing was making sure he wasn't a threat by trying to understand and communicate with the three soldiers.
Does one have to be a risktaker to be a war hero?
This made me think about Jonathon's situation.A person who takes many risks is a person who is brave. That is what Jonathon lacks. When he was caught by the Hessians, Jonathon wondered about what they were saying. "Suddenly, he was sure he understood: they were going to kill him" this can be found on page 59. At the thought of this,Jonathon got scared. He wondered about what had happened when they fought. "He began to wonder about what truly had happened when they had fought. He knew they had been beaten. It had been so confusing, so wrongly done, it was a wonder that they even stood and fought at all. It seemed so stupid now." pg. 67. Jonathon is not a risk-taker at all.
