"Get in your places get your muskets don't be daft" said the Corporal when they heard the abuzz of the drummers of the other regiments. From that feeling Jonathan felt fear maybe even regret of this time where he knows of no safety.Maybe he wanted to know the feeling of war what was the point of it. Now that he is experienced it he is probably not satisfied with this answer. Perhaps he was wondering why he went in the first place but still with that information we would not now what he was thinking at that time. Just imagine you being in that predicament how would you feel ?Everyone has a different point of view on what is the point of war, What is yours???

i think that there is no point to war and that it is a waste of lives, money and time. all it accoplishes is that one nation will get obliterated beyond repair and the other nation(s) will get an empty sense of pride and go somewhere else to fill the void. if we use war as an excuse to blow people up because of misconceptions or diffrences than humanity will cease to exist.
Johnathan, I totally agree with you. Ithought the same thing.
Well i think that too but many others dont so they start wars. I think war only causes destruction.
there is no point in war. war just leads to death and violence. fighting for what you believe in is one thing, but fighting for your life is another. young men and women are dieing in Iraq because of the war. think about those poor families who are losing loved ones. war is truly a bad idea. so i agree.
totally, when there is a war many lives are taken by the families that care about them. You might fight and fight again but when you are fighting in a war it is totally different story.
I compltely agree with Jonathan. If i was Jonathan i would have felt extreamly scared because i would hear the drums louder and louder as they grow closer and i would wonder why i came.all war is a useless way of solving your problems and putting fear into the hearts of many lives
I agree 100 percent with you Jonathan. I mean, why do we have wars? To me I think that they have wars just because one country wants to better than the other. Sure if you win you might consider yourself better, but will it be worth all the lives that were lost.I don't think so.Thats why I agree with Jonathan.
I agree with kooldude.
i agree with the statement what is the point of war. Wars cost millions of deaths because of lands and religious beliefs. It leaves the country or battlefield in a wreck.
I agree with these statements. There is no point to war. I mean why should nations fight against one another. It won't solve anything, just create more hatred for one another and more bloodshed. It can be dealt through communication and arguments. Jonathan's character in Fighting Ground doesn't understand that. He's only becoming a soldier because he feels it will be an honor and the uniforms will be amazing. If he knew that WAR causes bloodshed and terror, do you think he would still join the war? He's just thirteen and want's to be accepted by the older men. War just creates other reasons to fight not a reason to end a fight. For example, in Fighting Ground it is explained that Joanthan's father wounded his leg in the war. Now probably his father has more hatred for the British and Hessian soldiers. Many men might be like that. They only want to see the British soldiers dead. They've forgotten what was their mission,to be free of them not to finish them. War is war; a battle over something that can be accomplished through protests, strikes, debates, and quarrels without losing lives. I hope that Jonathan realizes that before it's too late.
war is a cruel nightmare that never ends......
its for brave man and women
the sad thing is over 2 million deaths occur.
is it worth it to send 10 million soldier a year to war and then get back 5 million back..
it makes you think.
many family members i know, know many soldiers that have died.
the sad thing is they have a family of their own.
i would know if there was a point to war. My country is facing death, after death. Bomb attacks, unloyalty to youre country, and friendships turned into hate. This is what war has done to us.
