I realized that so far in the book, Jonathan feels so isolated and alienated. I think he feels isolated because none of the soldiers are actually talking. He feels alienated because nobody believes his fib about his father letting him go.
I notced that in the book,in some parts,he feels Isolated. One reason is because on pg 12 it said" The soilders paid no mind to Jonathan". That means that he feels abandoned because no one is speaking to him.
I think that kayla is correct on the idea of but i think she should abolish the part about his father not letting him go cause it doesnt have anything to do with the concept.GOOD JOB !!!!!
I noticed how jonathan was made to feel alienated and isolated because of another soldier.I have a citaion that will prove this. "Suddenly, the man said, "why'd you come?"
I realized that Jonathan is isolated from the other soldiers. For example"Jonathan was the only one holding the gun with 2 hands,he felt excluded from therest of the soldiers". Jonathan doesn't know anything about war. He thinks it is all about the uniforms. THATS NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll bet that Jonathan is isolated and alienated. He is probably lonely since there isnt alot of kids his age around. The soldiers just totally ignore the fact hes there.Like when they said,"'Your father coming?' was the question. Before he could reply someone else said,'His leg still sitting poor.' They paid no attention to Jonathan."So thats why he probably feels alienated and alone.:]
I agree on what Khristian had said. What Kayla said was quiet good but she should have packed it up with a citation such as " Jonathan tried to throw it (the gun) over his shoulder and resting it as the others did, only to find it's weight cut into his neck." That isolated him from the others. The fact that he was behind the others also isolated him from the others.
I realized that in the book,Jonathon has felt isolated and alienated. One, he has felt alienated by a soldier. I have a citation to prove this. He felt a tap on his shoulder."your father coming?"was the question. Before he could reply, someone else said"his legs still poor." they paid no more mind to Jonathon. Also another citation of feeling isolated was, once more Jonathon allowed himself to drop to the rear, deciding it was better to stay at last.
I have chosen war because Jonathan said " O' Lord, make it be a battle". Now coming from this statement it seems that Jonathan wants this war to be a battle. But of course he does not know what could possibly happen to him. He has no clue what everyday soldiers go though with. I think this is how the statement " O' Lord, make it be a battle" relates to war. PG.9
kyle, i think you have a point in your statement. i think that is true that jonathan is thinking the war is easy when its really not.he saids hes ready when he really knows nothing about being in a war.
I realized that Jonathan is feeling aienated. Jonathan is a 13 year old boy who is acting on a whim when he said he wanted to fight. It was just a spur of the moment thing. So imagine a 13 year old boy with little experiance fighting with men 2 or 3 times he's age. Its akwared and weird knowing that the people around you are way better than you and you'll probely never catch up to them. "They paid no mind to him" so they other men anrn't even atempting to ease the tension. So Jonathan is feeling alone and alienated

Great point! Do you have a citation to back up this statement?
Thats a really good point, but you should have back it up with something from the book.

i think kayla needs to add a citation to make it perfect.
I see your point Khristian but you need a little more details to expand your citation.
